Acciona Energy, a subsidiary of Acciona, is one of the leading renewable energy providers in the world and maintains a presence in all of the clean energy sectors including wind, small hydro, biomass, concentrating solar power, photovoltaic, solar hot water, biodiesel and bioethanol. Acciona Energy employs more than 1,600 people and is one of the most experienced companies working in the clean energy field. ACCIONA Energy is the largest wind power developer in the world, with 200 wind farms installed or under construction, of which 4,554 MW are owned by the company.
The company has installed wind farms in Spain, USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Hungary, India, France and Morocco – in these two last countries, for third parties. In addition, current projects are under construction in Mexico and South Korea, while others are in development in the UK, Poland, Croatia and Slovenia.
ACCIONA Energy also works with all three solar technologies, including concentrating solar power, photovoltaic and solar hot water. ACCIONA IN THE US
The U.S. is a strategic country for ACCIONA, in which it will be increasing its activities in renewables in coming years. The company has installed so far three wind farms totalling 266 MW. The 180 MW Tatanka wind farm is the largest one, located in North and South Dakota.
Through ACCIONA Windpower, the company has recently opened its last wind turbine manufacturing plant in West Branch, Iowa.
In January 2008, ACCIONA Agua, the subsidiary company for water services, inaugurated the largest desalination plant in the U.S., in Tampa, Florida.
